Love Found Its Way Through the YouTube Screen – Enjoy Jane and Richard’s Igbo Trad

It’s amazing how one simple decision can spark a chain of beautiful, life-changing events. Five years ago, Jane launched her YouTube channel — unaware that it would one day lead her straight to her soulmate.

Richard started off as just another supportive fan, reaching out with kind words as a subscriber who genuinely enjoyed her content. But as time passed, he realised it wasn’t just the channel he loved, he had fallen for the woman behind the screen. Now, their hearts are locked in for life, and what started as a sweet online connection has blossomed into a love story for the books. They celebrated their union with a vibrant Igbo traditional wedding full of colour, culture, and all the joy you can imagine. Let’s just say, we’re still swooning over all the beauty and we bet you will too!

Enjoy their wedding video and love story below:

Their love story as shared by Jane:

I never knew a hobby I picked up during the COVID-19 lockdown would lead me to my life partner. I started my YouTube channel in 2020, simply out of boredom. Sometimes, my late mom would tease me, saying, “That’s where you’ll find your husband, since that’s what you’re always doing!” 🤭 Little did she know just how right she’d be. In 2021, Richard first reached out via Instagram. It wasn’t anything serious; he just wanted to say he was a subscriber and loved my channel. I thanked him politely, and that was that.

Jane looks radiant in her maiden look 😍

Fast forward to January 2024: he reached out again, and I replied, “Hello, stranger 😊.” We started talking more regularly. He confessed that he would often check my channel, hoping he wouldn’t stumble upon my engagement or wedding video, because he would beat himself up. What began as a one-minute call quickly turned into hours… then days. A few weeks later, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I gladly said yes. 💕

A few months into the relationship, he started having the “serious conversation.” But I told him I wasn’t ready for anything that serious without first meeting him in person. So, we planned for me to visit and spend my birthday together in the UK. But UKVI had other plans, my visa was denied. Since losing my mom (she passed in May, and my birthday is also in May), birthdays hadn’t been the same. I had already written this one off — just another year, same pain, different age. I was scheduled to travel for work two days after my birthday, so I thought, even if he wanted to come, he can’t possibly fly in just for 3 days, then… he did the most unexpected thing.

Richard came dripping style and culture 😍

He flew all the way to Nigeria, just to spend three days with me and celebrate my birthday. That birthday turned out to be one of the best I’ve had in years. Right there, I knew… this is it.
A few months later, our families met. My dad approved of him from the very first time he saw his picture. And then, just two days before Christmas, he proposed. We had our engagement-moon in beautiful Edinburgh, and the rest is history in the making. From a YouTube subscriber… to my soulmate.

A sweet blend of love and culture 😍
