For Ujunwa and Chima, this was their story. They often found themselves in the same circles while growing up, and as they got older, they reconnected on social media, but nothing romantic ever came of it. That all changed when fate brought them together at a social gathering. One dance request from Chima turned into one date, then another… and before they knew it, it was love in the air. Now, the lovebirds are set to spend the rest of their lives together, sealing it all in a magical outdoor wedding. They looked absolutely stunning as they tied the knot, surrounded by love, beauty, and family.

Our love story began long before we truly met. Our families and communities frequently intermingled – from Nigerian events to Greek organisations. However, when we first became aware of one another in the ways that many millennials do, it was through social media. A “friendly” follow on Instagram. Viewed stories. Liked Posts. Distant observations. Still, our virtual interactions followed normal social media etiquette. Nothing unusual and certainly nothing romantic.

As fate would have it, our worlds collided in San Francisco on March 30, 2019, on a Sunday afternoon during a reputable social gathering…also known as a “day party”. We immediately recognized each other, smiled and greeted one another as if we were old friends. After a couple of moments, the realization set in – we didn’t really know each other beyond brief encounters and Instagram memes… so it became awkward, fast! We said a quick goodbye and rejoined our friends. But, the day didn’t end there. One dance request from Chima, turned into one date, then two…and four years later, on May 19, 2023, we got engaged, right in front of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, California.
