Sometimes, amidst a busy and demanding work shift, love can raise its beautiful head and make everything feel lighter. That’s exactly how Sylvia met her soulmate, Emmanuel.
They started off on a cordial note, but as time passed, they couldn’t resist love’s gentle pull. Before they knew it, a simple birthday outing sealed the spark… and the rest, as they say, is history. Now, they’re on to forever as they seal their love in an intimate civil wedding ceremony. They showed up looking dashing, radiating love in every frame. They were surrounded by their loved ones and it was such a delight to see them embark on this sweet journey of bliss.

Their love story as shared by Sylvia:
One blessed morning in April 2022, after a very chaotic night shift at Golden Cross Hospital in Lagos, I went to hand over to the morning duty doctor. I must have looked a sight, big comfy scrubs, eye bags, and completely scruffy after a sleepless night. That was when I first met N’kem. My colleague introduced him as the new doctor joining us because we were short-staffed. I looked up and saw this fine, tall, neatly dressed man — shirt, tie, ward coat perfectly ironed, neat to a T. We exchanged pleasantries, and I honestly can’t remember the exact details of our first conversation, but I know he left an impression. The moment I got home, I called my friend to gist her about the “new doctor” I had just met.
Did someone say, gorgeous bride? 😍
For the most part, we kept things professional. We bonded over work and slowly developed a friendship. At the time, he was in a relationship and I respected that. But later in the year, just before his birthday in September, his long-distance relationship ended. I was his only friend in Lagos then, so I suggested a few birthday activities so he wouldn’t spend the day sulking. We ended up doing lunch instead of the Lekki Conservation Centre, and from the conversations we shared that day, I could tell he liked me. The feelings were mutual, but I wasn’t ready. I told him he needed to process his breakup before thinking about a new relationship.
When love and style intertwines 😍
Our friendship blossomed regardless. N’kem quickly became my go-to person. From car troubles to movie dates, lunch outings, sharing my highs and lows, and even attending the New Year crossover service together, he was always there. Eventually, N’kem left the hospital. Life happened, and we both got busy as we prepared for the UK medical licensing exams. Still, we kept in touch. Then in 2024, he called me one day and said: “You’re the one I will marry. I truly haven’t met anyone like you.” I laughed it off as a joke, but he meant it. Even though I played hard to get, he backed up those words with consistent actions. He fought for me in the most intentional way.
2024 was also the year I intentionally prayed about my life partner. Everything I asked God for in a husband, N’kem already possessed. At some point, I even prayed for God to “repackage those qualities in another person” because I thought I wanted someone new, someone from outside my past. Looking back now, I laugh at myself, because the more I prayed, the more N’kem’s actions displayed the exact qualities I had written to God about.
The rest, as they say, is history. It has been such an amazing journey with him, and I am forever grateful to God. I call N’kem my perfect man. Every day, through his actions, he shows me the true meaning of love, the kind described in 1 Corinthians 13: A love that protects, provides, trusts, and forgives. A love that is patient, kind, not self-seeking, not proud, and never easily angered. N’kem is one of the many proofs of God’s love for me, and it’s an honor to do life with him.
