Who would have thought that a simple Question/Answer session on Instagram would blossom into forever love? For Temi and Gbenga, this is exactly how their beautiful love story began.

They absolutely had no idea what the future had planned, but fate was gradually weaving this plot behind the scenes. Gbenga had replied ‘friends?’ to Temi’s Q/A post on IG, and she accepted. That single comment marked the beginning of a lifetime of love. Time passed, and they built a solid friendship, one that made it so easy to transition into a romantic relationship. Now the lovebirds are saying yes to forever, how amazing! Set against the enchanting seaside views of Cabo, Mexico, Gbenga surprised Temi with a romantic proposal! He got down on his knee and popped that life-changing question. What followed was a very excited yes from Temi! Our love story started where we least expected it, on Instagram. In December 2018, I posted a simple Q&A on my story. One reply stood out: “Friends?” I said okay… and that one word changed everything. He sent me a DM saying he lived in Akobo too and that he genuinely just wanted to be friends, “no shooting his shot,” as he put it. And that’s exactly how it began, just friends. He attended my 18th birthday at my house that same month. He was nice and all, but we were both in relationships at the time, so no pressure, no rush, just getting to know each other. Fast-forward to December 2021, he finally asked me out on a date. I said yes. Two more dates later, we made it official.

In 2022, he moved out of the country, and our love went long-distance. It wasn’t easy, but we chose each other every day. A year later, I moved too, and we were reunited, proof that love, patience, and commitment really does travel across borders. On January 7th 2026, just 2 weeks before our 5th anniversary, he asked me to be his forever on a trip to Cabo, Mexico. It was intimate. It was thoughtful. It was perfect. And just like that, a simple “Friends?” changed our lives.
