The Edo culture has always stood out for its elegance, royalty, and timeless beauty. It remains one of the most recognisable and celebrated traditional looks not only in Nigeria but across Africa. For this project, our goal was to create a portrayal that felt authentic while embracing a modern editorial approach. Although the overall styling is distinctly Edo-inspired, highlighted by the iconic coral beads. We intentionally incorporated a subtle Ghanaian influence through the groom’s shoulder wrapper, reflecting how African weddings often celebrate the beauty of multiple cultures.

As the photographer, my vision was to make the couple command attention while placing them in a vintage-inspired environment that complements rather than competes with the story. The setting enhances the richness of the traditional outfits, celebrates the beauty of the African landscape, and reinforces the cultural heritage behind every detail. In the end, it’s all about preserving culture, telling authentic stories, and inspiring a deeper appreciation for Africa’s traditions.
