True love ages like fine wine, and it’s so evident in Mesoma and Chidubem’s sweet love story. 5 years ago, the lovebirds said ‘I do’, now they are celebrating half a decade of unwavering love and devotion.

Their beautiful journey to forever all started when Chidubem spotted Mesoma at a family gathering and was immediately smitten! He was so swept off his feet that he couldn’t even talk to her, but he knew he had to find a way. Quickly, he collected her Instagram handle from her cousin, texted her, and the rest, they say, is history.

Ever since, it’s been five beautiful years of loving each other endlessly, building a lovely home together and navigating marriage as partners. To celebrate this amazing milestone, the lovebirds have blessed us with stunning photos from their fifth wedding anniversary, looking absolutely radiant with their two cuties. Their love story, as told by Chidubem:

I first saw Mesoma at a family gathering. Not the kind of “oh, hello, nice to meet you” kind of seeing. No. The kind of seeing that makes a man forget how to talk. I looked at her… and did absolutely nothing. No greeting. No “hi.” No introduction. Just vibes. Because sometimes when a woman is too fine, your mouth automatically goes on strike. But I wasn’t about to let that moment pass. So, like every determined modern Nigerian man, I did the only logical thing: I called her cousin. Because clearly, the mission was bigger than pride. “Please, I need her Instagram handle.” And just like that, the chase began. I slid into her DM with the confidence of a man who knew what he wanted… and thankfully, Mesoma replied. Soon, she gave me her number, and that was it. 🤭

When we met, my first impression was “She looks like a mommy’s girl. But also… “God abeg, this babe is fire.” The kind of fire that makes you start imagining your future, your children, your wedding hashtag, and your blood pressure rising—all at once. And Mesoma? She was just being herself: soft, beautiful, and effortlessly captivating. The kind of babe that doesn’t even need to try. She just exists, and men start behaving like fools. After 18 months of dating, I knew. This wasn’t just a relationship. This was destiny. So I asked her to marry me. And honestly, it made sense. Because how can you be collecting lunch, love, and peace of mind and not lock it down? Mesoma said yes, and our journey moved into the next chapter.

Traditional marriage happened. But COVID came like an unwanted guest that doesn’t know boundaries. So we had to wait 13 months before the wedding. Thirteen months. That’s not small. But instead of complaining, we bonded. We built friendship. We built trust. We built love. And the funniest part? We even decided to wait till after the wedding before having babies. Meaning it was just us…Two best friends…In love… And God giving us extra time to enjoy each other. Some people would call it a delay. But Dubem and BabyDee turned it into premium bonding. In the midst of COVID-19, and like many couples, we were tested. Life became uncertain. The whole world paused. But we didn’t pause our love. Instead, we held on tighter. We faced the storm together. We went from the struggle of the 9-5 life… To the brave transition of building a business.

That season wasn’t easy. But it revealed something powerful: Our love wasn’t based on convenience. It was built on partnership. Mesoma wasn’t just a girlfriend. She was a teammate. A real one. The kind of woman you don’t just love… You respect. And when I talk about Mesoma, I say it with full confidence: “She’s the love of my entire existence.” Not “I like her.” Not “she’s my babe.” Not “we’re managing.” No. This is whole existence level love. The kind of love that has entered your blood. The kind of love that is not negotiable. The kind of love that makes you look at one woman and say: “Yeah… this is my person.” And that’s how we became more than lovers.

We became a team. A friendship. A safe place. A home. A love story that started with one quiet stare at a family gathering… And turned into a lifetime. Now we walk through life together—laughing, building, loving, checking up on each other, and choosing each other again and again. And in the end… We didn’t just fall in love. We built love. The kind that survives hard times. The kind that grows through waiting seasons. The kind that still feels playful, sweet, and exciting. The kind that lasts.
