This feature is from talented London-based Makeup Artist, Kemi Imevbore Uwaga of KemiKings Makeup. She will be sharing with us the tricks, hacks, and secrets behind this glam. Enjoy and see you in the comment section. Before then, you can catch up with other features here.

Before the Wedding

Folake had contacted us precisely a year in advance to her wedding to book her bridal makeup and hairstyling services. As a follow-up, we started the standard pre-wedding discussions and she noted she wouldn’t require a trial/consultation. This is common with some of our brides, however, Folake was slightly different – she is a proper makeup addict and knows it to a T. In the lead up to the wedding day, Folake shared a detailed makeup brief.

On the Wedding

My team and I arrived to see a TV crew in Folake’s room at the Hilton London hotel. Her wedding was being filmed for the first episode of the Nigerian Top Weddings TV program. Splendid! So, makeup and hair had to be immaculate for photos and also TV friendly.

Makeup Process

The makeup process started with a cotton pad and Simple Micellar Cleansing Water to gently cleanse her face and create a clean slate for makeup. Folake’s skin type is oily to combination. To prep her skin, Embroylisse Hydra Matte was used as an all-over moisturizer, Becca Poreless Mattifier to minimize shine on the t-zone and reduce the appearance of pores and a dime-sized spread of Melanie Mills illuminator to bring back the glow in strategic parts of the face. To create the makeup base, I  used Black Opal concealing foundation in Carob & Beautiful Bronze buffed into the skin with a spray of MAC cosmetics to diffuse any harsh lines. Her brows were beautifully sculpted with the Evita Joseph brow pencil and set in place with the Blot Beauty brow gel.

The base was set with MAC MSF Powdering dark, bronzed with the shade Deep Dark and under eyes set lightly with the Sacha Cosmetics Powder. Her blush of choice was from the Juvia’s Place Blush Palette II. For her eye area, Foiled and matte eyeshadows from Makeup Geek cosmetics took centre stage es. Her lips were finished with the MAC chestnut lipliner, ABH naked liquid lipstick and topped with Kiko Milano lipgloss. Then I finished off with about two to three spritz of the Urban Decay Setting Spray all over her face as a setting and finishing spray for a long-lasting finish.
