It all began with a heartfelt congratulatory message Nelson sent after Josephine celebrated a major milestone. As the conversations continued, they discovered a genuine spark which led to them being friends. Eventually, they had an opportunity to go on their first date, and everything just fell into place ever since. Now, they’re giving us all the feels with their pre-wedding photos, and it’s safe to say they’re officially #LinkedInLove! 😍

Their love story as shared by Josephine:

I never thought I would meet my husband on social media. Well, LinkedIn, to be precise, so social media-ish? We are both Nigerians and lawyers, but we grew up in different places. I am Edo and Yoruba, and I grew up between Lagos and the USA and Nelson is Igbo and grew up in different cities in Nigeria, primarily in the East and South-South. I moved back to Nigeria in 2020 during the pandemic, and I was trying to make sense of a “new normal” at the time. One day, I posted a fellowship that I had completed on my LinkedIn profile, and a mentor of mine reposted and amplified my post. It caught my nerdy but cute husband’s attention. I didn’t know him at all then, but his congratulatory message was quite cheerful for someone he didn’t know personally, so I was intrigued.

He seemed nice so I messaged him (professionally) but when he messaged back, it was casual and cheerful, calling me “Jo”. I was surprised because only my friends call me that. We became friends, casual hi and bye, how are things going, some professional advice here and there type-of friends. We were basically pen pals because we had never seen each other, until one day he saw that I had passed the Nigerian bar exam and offered to celebrate me. We left our chats and met up in person at Danfo Bistro for dinner. We had a great time and then found out we lived quite close to each other. It was clear by the end of dinner that there was something more, special and very palpable between us. Since that day, all the missing pieces of life just made sense. We were kindred spirits that fell in love and we are always each other’s biggest cheerleaders.
