In this feature, we spoke with Eunice and Kenny, who had their honeymoon in Zanzibar. Planned by Tourbirth, their trip was the perfect balance of adventure, romance, relaxation, and unforgettable memories. Let’s get into their experience! 😍

How far in advance did you start planning your honeymoon?

About 6 months

What was your honeymoon budget, and did you stick to it?

We had a 7-8million budget. And yes, we were able to stick to it.

Why did you choose Zanzibar?

We’ve actually always thought Zanzibar was a nice tourism location. We contacted our honeymoon planner (Tourbirth). Our budget could definitely get us to and from the location. So, why not?

How did you balance wedding expenses with planning a memorable honeymoon?

We had a very small wedding of 50 people, so it made it very easy for us to afford our honeymoon, and we only had to pay; Tourbirth did the rest.

Any unexpected challenges during the trip (delays, weather, or bookings)? How did you handle it, and how do you think you could have avoided it?

None that I remember right now.

What’s one thing you’ve discovered about each other during the honeymoon?

We discovered that we’d forever want to travel together.

What’s one must-have item you feel every couple should pack on their honeymoon?

If you’re travelling to a place as hot as Zanzibar, Sunscreen is a must. Also, dress for comfort. Don’t just choose fancy. Lastly, pleaseeee, extra cash (dollar). Thank me later

If you could relive one day of the honeymoon, which would it be and why?

The day we walked around Stone Town. We had the locals singing for us, and it was all so  beautiful.

What advice would you give to newlyweds about planning the perfect honeymoon?

If you’re travelling for the first time, have a planner do the work. So you don’t make mistakes that’ll ruin your magic moments. Also, if you find yourself trying to balance your wedding and honeymoon expenses, always prioritise your honeymoon expenses. You’ll enjoy every moment of your honeymoon because it’s for you, but your wedding is for your family (especially if you’re a Nigerian).

How did the honeymoon deepen your connection as a couple?

It was our first time travelling together, so it was kind of the first time we were together for long at a stretch, even overnight. It was amazing.
