They say “out of sight is out of mind,” but for Nuella and Tinah, distance was never a barrier—it was the very force that proved how unbreakable their bond truly was.
What began in a secondary school hostel years ago survived different continents, changing time zones, and a decade apart. Though life took them miles away, they remained those same secondary school girls at heart, nurturing a friendship built on intentional love and endless daily catch-ups.
So when it was time for Nuella to say “I do,” there was no question about where Tinah needed to be. Boarding the next available flight and flying across the world, Tinah didn’t just show up, she carried her best friend through the most special day of her life. We got to chat with them in this sweet interview, and theirs is the story of two best friends, ten years of distance, and a bond that only grew stronger with every mile. Surely, this heartwarming read will put a smile on your face.
Take in all the sweetness as you scroll!

How did your friendship with your bestie begin?
Nuella: Our friendship began in secondary school. She was a boarding student while I lived very close to the school, so after classes I would often visit the hostel and spend time with her. That’s how our bond grew stronger. Although she left Nigeria in 2015 and we didn’t see each other again until 2025 at my wedding, we have always stayed in close contact. With us, nothing is ever too small or too big to talk about, and that constant communication has kept our friendship strong over the years.
Tinah: Our friendship began in school. We met there and quickly connected, and from that moment our friendship just kept growing. Over time, we shared so many conversations, laughs, and life moments that our friendship grew deeper. What makes our bond special is the honesty, support, and understanding we have for each other. She’s someone I can always count on, and I know she feels the same about me.

In one word, how would you describe your bestie:
Nuella: Soulmate.
Tinah: Genuine. What you see is what you get with Nuella; she’s real, honest, and always herself.
What’s one memorable thing she did for you during your wedding that you’ll never forget?
Nuella: I never expected that she would fly all the way from the United States to be with me in the UK. She secretly planned the surprise with my husband, and that alone made my entire wedding. She didn’t just show up — she truly carried me through the day. Everything went so smoothly because my best friend came through for me.

Why was it important for you to stand by her as her chief bridesmaid on such a special day?
Tinah: It was very important to me because she’s not just a friend; she is family. Standing by her side on her wedding day was truly an honour, and I was grateful to be part of such a special moment.
Looking back at your journey, what’s one thing your bestie did that made you feel especially supported or loved?
Nuella: She made a detailed to-do list for me before the wedding day and made sure I went to bed early the night before. On the morning of the wedding, she even made me breakfast. She also coordinated the entire day, and her presence and support were truly felt throughout.
What was going through your mind when you saw her as a bride on her wedding day?
Tinah: Honestly, I was overwhelmed with happiness and pride. Seeing her walk in as a bride was such a beautiful moment. I kept thinking about how far she had come and how deserving she is of love and happiness. She looked absolutely radiant.

As a bride, why do you think it’s important to have your best friend by your side on your big day?
Nuella: Nothing compares to the support of someone who truly loves you. Your best friend just gets you — sometimes without you even needing to say much. Having her by my side made the day even more special, and I honestly couldn’t have had a more beautiful wedding day without her.
What was your favourite moment from the wedding celebration?
Tinah: Honestly, my favourite moment was just seeing how happy she was throughout the day. Her smile said everything, and it was such a beautiful feeling knowing that my friend was experiencing one of the happiest moments of her life.

What’s your favourite memory together outside the wedding?
Nuella: Our Hallelujah Challenge video calls. They are always such a special and joyful time for us.
Tinah: Honestly, my favourite memories with Nuella are the simple ones, laughing together, having deep conversations, and supporting each other through life. Those moments are what made our friendship so meaningful to me.

How has your friendship shaped the kind of woman you are becoming today?
Nuella: We have grown so much together. Being friends with Tinah has taught me that you can achieve anything if you set your mind to it. She is a true go-getter and incredibly hardworking, and that constantly inspires me to push myself and keep striving for more.
Tinah: My friendship with Nuella has influenced me in many ways. She’s a very intentional person and someone who truly fears God, and that has inspired me a lot. Watching the way she lives her life with purpose, faith, and care for others has encouraged me to grow in those same areas and to become a more thoughtful and grounded woman.

Do you think your presence as her chief bridesmaid made a difference during the wedding planning or on the wedding day itself? How?
Tinah: I believe it did in small but meaningful ways. Being there to help with planning, offering support, and making sure things ran smoothly on the day allowed her to focus more on enjoying the moment. I just wanted to make the day as stress-free and special for her as possible.
What’s one piece of advice that helped you through the wedding planning process that you’d love to share with other brides?
Nuella: Do what you can, when you can, and allow yourself to rest in God’s faithfulness.
