Damilare Saw Temitope’s Photo 11 Years Ago and Had His Heart Stolen! #DaresCupofTee

No matter the distance or the challenges along the way, true love always finds its way back home. Temitope and Damilare’s fairytale began with a photograph 11 years ago.

A mutual friend had posted Temitope’s photo, and the moment Damilare saw it, a piece of his heart was quietly taken… though he didn’t fully realise it yet. Months passed, and eventually, they went on their first date, which marked the beginning of a beautiful relationship that would stand the test of time.

Over the years, they navigated long distances, different time zones, and the challenges that came with being apart. Yet, through it all, they held on to each other, choosing love, patience, and commitment every step of the way. Today, their journey has beautifully come full circle, and their love story is a reminder that when it’s meant to be, nothing can stand in the way. We are bringing you all the magic of their love through their pre-wedding photos; you sure want to take in all the beauty as you scroll.

Enjoy their pre-wedding shoot and love story below:

Their love story as shared by Damilare:

I saw Temitope on a friend’s BBM in December 2015. It was just a photograph, passing through a screen. I didn’t know her name yet. But something in me was still and certain, the way things do when you are looking at your future without realising it. I asked about her, got her pin, and we chatted for a while. It was warm and easy, and then, after a while, the conversation faded. I let it go. She let it go. But neither of us knew the universe was simply clearing the way. Then came March 2016. The same friend posted her photo again. I saw it, laughed, pointed at the screen and said: half joking, entirely serious, “Ha. This is my runaway wife. Na me go marry this babe last last.”

What I didn’t know was that it was Temitope who had posted the photo on her friend’s phone. She picked up the phone, read my messages, and laughed. She recognised my name.  We called, we texted, and we talked the way two people talk when something real is quietly building between them. By September 2016, I took her to Ikeja City Mall for our first date. I already knew what I wanted, and on the 30th of September, I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she said yes.

Then in 2017, she packed her bags and travelled abroad for her first Master’s degree. I tried to reach her across the distance calls that didn’t always connect, messages sent into different time zones, a love held together by patience and the stubborn refusal to let go. It was not easy, but it was real and real things hold. She came home in 2019, and the love came alive again. We found each other in the same city, in the same air, and it was everything.

In 2022, I took her to Jerome’s Garden where I got on one knee before my Caramel (that is what I call her) and asked her to be my wife. She said YES. Of course, she said yes. She went back abroad for her second Master’s. This time, I followed. First briefly, then in 2023, I went properly to stand beside her, to live in her world rather than wait at the edge of it.  It has not been a perfect journey; there were years of distance, of silence, of almost giving up, but somehow, love always found its way back to us. It was never just luck.
Today, here we are, love tested, love proven, love destined.
