This year, BellaNaija clocks 20 years, and if there’s one thing we’ve come to realise over the years, it’s that nothing can stop love… not even a pandemic. ❤️
In the midst of the uncertainty and difficult days of 2020, love still found a way to shine through, put smiles on faces and give us something beautiful to celebrate. And, as always, BellaNaija was there to spotlight some of those unforgettable love stories. From intimate ceremonies to beautiful celebrations that brought families together, these couples reminded us that even in the most challenging times, love will always find a way.

Yinka and Damilola
With just 30 guests in attendance, Yinka and Damilola’s intimate wedding proved that you don’t need a crowd to create a truly unforgettable celebration. Their rustic garden-themed ceremony was filled with beautiful details and all the warmth of the people who mattered most.

Atinuke & Gbenga
When Atinuke and Gbenga’s big day, originally planned for May 1 at an 800-capacity venue in Lagos, had to be rescheduled, they didn’t let the circumstances stop them from saying “I do.” Instead, the couple embraced the moment and celebrated with a beautiful, intimate ceremony at the bride’s father’s home, sharing their special day with loved ones virtually via Zoom.

Obianuju and Chidube
Obianuju and Chidube’s wedding was originally set for April 30, 2020, but like so many couples that year, they had to change their plans. By June 13, they were ready to make it happen, and they planned their big day in just two weeks! With only 20 guests in attendance, the couple chose The Waterside, Lekki, a beautiful glass house overlooking the sea, complete with an unforgettable sunset view.

Daniela & Angelo
Daniela and Angelo’s wedding was originally planned as a grand 1,200-guest celebration, but as COVID-19 cases rose, they knew they had to rethink their plans. They tied the knot on July 4, 2020, with an intimate reception at home for just 18 guests. To include loved ones celebrating virtually, they also sent food boxes to 50 locations across Lagos.

Chiamaka and Chijioke
Chiamaka and Chijioke had envisioned a 700-guest wedding, but 2020 had other plans. They kept things intimate with 14 loved ones at their church ceremony, before celebrating with a special reception party for just the two of them in Lagos.
