That little conversation became the perfect opportunity for love to plant a beautiful seed, one that would blossom years later into something truly special. Now, they’re living out a love story that began with school banter and a DM, and they get to spend the rest of their lives together. We met on 2go, back in JS3. Our schools were always bantering with each other online, and he took it a bit personally, personal enough to bring his banter straight to my DM. From there we were on each other’s necks all the time, but somehow we became really good friends, especially after we found out we went to the same church. As time went on, I did like him romantically, but by the time he approached me, my feelings had cooled off, so I turned him down. We stayed good friends anyway. He’d ask me out now and then, and I kept saying no, but it never damaged what we had. My family and friends knew him well by then and kept telling me to give him a chance, but I felt my feelings weren’t deep enough, and I didn’t want to risk a good friendship.

Still, whenever he moved on to other girls, I didn’t like it. Looking back, I was blind to my own feelings for him. Eventually I got tired of not understanding my own heart, so I told God to open my eyes to what everyone else saw in him. I decided to just date him so the matter would finally rest. Two months at most, I thought, we’d try, it wouldn’t work, and we’d both move on for good. But God really did hear that prayer. He opened my eyes, and I saw my heart and what an amazing man he is. I’m glad I got to have him as a wonderful friend for all those years, and now, even more, as my husband.
