What started as a casual visit turned into good conversation, plenty of laughter and a connection that felt effortless. And when Ladi eventually found an excuse to send Eniola a photo of her favourite beer, well… let’s just say that message was the beginning of something beautiful. Our story began long before we ever spoke. For years, we had a mutual friend connecting us from a distance. Ladi went to high school with him, while I attended college and university with him. Through social media and mutual circles, we had known of each other for years, but our paths never truly crossed.
That changed in 2023.
Ladi had travelled to the UK for a short holiday and decided to visit our mutual friend in Manchester. I was living there at the time and joined the visit. What started as an ordinary weekend quickly became something neither of us expected. We met at our friend’s house, spent time talking, laughing, and getting to know one another. There was an effortless connection from the very beginning. The next day, we spent more time together, and as they say, the rest was history.

When the weekend ended, Ladi returned to where he was staying in the UK. A few days later, he found the perfect excuse to reach out—sending me a photo of my favourite bottle of beer with a simple message: “Look what I found.” That message started a conversation that never really ended.
Over the following weeks, he made several trips back to Manchester. We talked every day, growing closer with every conversation. What began as friendship quickly became something much deeper. When Ladi eventually returned to Nigeria, he confidently told family and friends, “I’ve found my wife.”
And he never stopped pursuing that conviction.
From Manchester to countless phone calls, visits, prayers, laughter, and unforgettable memories, God wrote a love story neither of us saw coming—but one we’re grateful for every day. Now, we’re preparing for our greatest adventure yet: forever together. And this is only the beginning.

Who made the first move? How?
Ladi: Eniola did. She practically set up the whole weekend!
Eniola: Excuse me! I simply organised a nice weekend so my friend could spend time with his friend. That’s not making the first move.
Ladi: You spoke to me first.
Eniola: I had a simple, ladylike conversation. You took it from there.
Ladi: Fair enough… but I still think you made the first move.
Eniola: And you kissed me first, so let’s call it even.
Who’s going to take out the trash?
Ladi: Me.
Eniola: Definitely Ladi. I don’t even know where the trash bags are.

What was your most memorable date?
Our very first date. It was one of the best first dates either of us has ever experienced. Ladi planned an entire day filled with thoughtful activities. We went for brunch, watched Eniola’s favourite movie at the time, explored the city, and simply enjoyed being together.
Eniola: It was beautiful, well-curated, and he was a perfect gentleman.
What’s your favourite activity together?
Honestly, just being around each other. Whether we’re travelling, eating, talking, watching a movie, or doing absolutely nothing, our favourite thing is simply spending time together.

Where are you going for your honeymoon?
An American tour! We’re excited to explore different cities together and create memories on our first big adventure as husband and wife.
What’s the best meal you have eaten together?
At the moment, we’d both agree: sushi!
What’s the most memorable trip you have taken together?
Lakowe Lakes!!! (And yes, we’re already planning many more adventures together!)
