Their love story, as shared by Tobi:
From TikTok to Forever? I would never have guessed. If you had told me when I first started posting my after-work vlogs on TikTok that one of those videos would eventually lead me to my husband, I probably would have laughed. At the time, TikTok was simply a place where I shared little snippets of my life after work. I had also started making new friends online, so when he began commenting on my videos and making his usual dry jokes, I didn’t think too much of it. We started chatting, and the conversation just… continued. I certainly wasn’t looking for love. In my mind, it was TikTok. Nothing serious can come out of here- or so I thought.

For about a month, we kept everything within the app. Eventually, our conversations moved to WhatsApp, and not long after that, we went on our first date at Akara in London. What I remember most about that first date is just how easy it felt. There was no awkwardness or pressure. It genuinely felt like I was going to dinner with a longtime friend. We talked, laughed, gisted, and just enjoyed each other’s company. It was effortless. In fact, after the date, I remember thinking that I had probably spent the whole evening chatting away instead of asking any of the important “first date PDF questions” you’re apparently supposed to ask! But maybe that was the point. We didn’t need a checklist. We just connected. The friendship came so naturally, and before we knew it, we became inseparable.

Here’s how Tunde popped the question:
When he proposed, he took us right back to where it all began: Akara, the restaurant where we had our first date. The funny thing is that I had absolutely no idea what was coming. My friends had suggested going out for lunch, and one of them recommended Akara. She was saying all these lovely things about the restaurant, and I casually mentioned that I had actually been there before. They asked if we should go somewhere else, and I said, “No, it’s fine. It’ll be a different experience with the girls.”

Little did I know just how different that experience was going to be. Instead of a girls’ lunch, I got a proposal. It was such a beautiful surprise, and knowing that he had chosen the very place where we had our first date made it even more special. It felt like our story had come full circle, from a completely unexpected TikTok conversation to a moment that would change our lives forever. It is a memory I will cherish for the rest of my life.
After the proposal, everything seemed to fall into place. Our journey has happened in beautiful stages. We had our civil ceremony in October 2025, followed by our vow and traditional ceremony in September 2026. It was the most beautiful day, and all I could think about was just ‘we are actually here.’ Looking back, I love how unexpected our story was. I wasn’t looking for a relationship when we met. I certainly wasn’t expecting to meet my husband while posting after work.
