Cris and I met, and it’s thanks to a little bit of curiosity… and a mutual friend who clearly enjoyed playing Cupid. It all started when our friend posted a birthday story featuring Cris. One photo. One very serious, intriguing face. And naturally, I had questions. So I slid into our friend’s DMs with this line I thought was smooth: “Ei… is brother Cris single? Ei Steve rather, lmfao.”

Clearly entertained by my investigation skills, our friend wasted no time and sent across our Snapchat usernames. Cris added me. I added him back. And then… absolutely nothing. For nearly six months, we remained strangers connected only by this yellow app. Until one random Sunday, Snapchat started acting suspiciously. Notification after notification: A message came through: “Hi Naa, how’s it going?”

Somehow, that one tiny message turned into hours of conversations… which turned into days… then months. And before we even realised it, it became obvious neither of us wanted the conversations to end.

Then, days to my birthday, this guyyy — THIS GUYYY decided to fly out and come see me. I must admit, it was very much unexpected, but I liked the kind gesture… and I think that’s where everything started. Simple. Casual. Completely unaware that it was about to change everything. What started with one tiny message and a trip to come see me turned into endless conversations, laughter, friendship, love, and eventually… us. Don’t you just love hearing love stories?
