What may have felt like coincidence at the time now feels like the universe gently positioning them for one another. Our story began in 2020, shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time, I was engaged to work on a professional project for Peace’s mother. Initially, all communication regarding the project was between me and her mother, as I would regularly visit their home to discuss the work.
During one of those early visits, a moment happened that, looking back now, feels quite special. Peace was on the phone with her mother and heard a male voice in the background. Curious, she asked, “Who is that?” Her mother told her someone was at the house working on her project and introduced us over the phone. We exchanged a simple “hello” out of courtesy. Neither of us knew who the other was, and we had no idea that this brief greeting would become the very first chapter of our story.

As the project progressed, Peace’s mother’s schedule became increasingly busy, making it difficult for her to provide information and feedback as quickly as the project required. To make the process more efficient, she asked Peace to begin working directly with me, coordinating the project and providing whatever information was needed to keep everything moving.
That decision would quietly change both of our lives. Our relationship began as a strictly professional one. Peace was diligent, intelligent, organised, and incredibly hardworking. She brought structure to the project and ensured nothing fell through the cracks. It became evident very early on that she approached everything she did with excellence and a strong sense of responsibility. As we continued working together, I developed a deep appreciation for her character, discipline, and the way she carried herself.

As the project drew closer to completion, our conversations naturally became more frequent. What began as discussions about timelines and deliverables slowly evolved into conversations about life, family, dreams, faith, and everything in between. We started checking in on one another outside of work, celebrating each other’s achievements, encouraging one another through challenges, and gradually becoming part of each other’s everyday lives.
Without forcing it, friendship grew into admiration. Admiration became affection. By the spring of 2021, we both realised that what we shared had become something much deeper than either of us had anticipated, and our love story officially began.

From there, our relationship continued to grow through different seasons of life. We experienced personal growth, career advancement, periods of long distance, challenges, answered prayers, and many milestones that strengthened our relationship. Every season taught us something new about each other and reaffirmed that we were meant to build a life together.
As our relationship matured, so did our conviction. We weren’t simply falling in love; we were building a friendship, a partnership, and a foundation rooted in faith, mutual respect, shared values, and unwavering commitment. Looking back today, it’s incredible to think that everything began because of a work assignment. What started as a professional project became the foundation of a lifelong partnership.

We often laugh about it now because, in many ways, we’re still working on that same project. Only today, the project is no longer a business assignment; it’s building a home, a marriage, a family, and a lifetime together.
Sometimes God writes the most beautiful stories in the most ordinary moments. A simple introduction over the phone, followed by a professional collaboration, became the beginning of our forever. We never imagined that a project would introduce us to the person we would spend the rest of our lives with, but looking back, we can see that God was orchestrating every detail from the very beginning. I guess the project hasn’t finished yet, by the way. lol
