It flowed effortlessly, and everything about their friendship was natural. Gradually, Sayo won her heart, and now the lovebirds are headed straight to forever! It all started on February 1st, 2020. That was the first time I came across his profile. He had left a comment on one of my pictures saying, “Your smile is golden.” I smiled, replied with an emoji, checked out his page, accepted his follow request… and went on with my life. At the time, it felt like nothing more than a simple interaction. Just another Instagram moment. Fast forward four years later. One day, while I was missing home, chatting with friends, and casually going through Instagram stories, I came across his birthday post. Because our birthdays are just four days apart, I replied innocently to wish him a happy birthday. I expected a simple “thank you.” But that wasn’t the case.

He didn’t just reply and move on. He stayed. He asked questions. He kept the conversation going. What started as a simple birthday message quickly turned into consistent conversations, laughter, and connection. That same day, he even sang to me in Spanish just to cheer me up. Somewhere along the way, our friendship became something special. I remember clearly the day I told him, “I wish you were my brother,” because that’s how safe and natural everything felt. But he didn’t let that slide. He replied and said, “I’m not here to be your brother. I’m here to win your heart.” And truly, slowly, intentionally, beautifully… he did. Now, here we are choosing each other every single day. The rest, as they say, is history.
