The First Date Sealed It All for Sefe & Austin’s Journey to Forever!

They say actions speak louder than words, and we absolutely agree. Sefe felt it in every thoughtful gesture Austin showed on their first date, each one quietly winning her heart and leading them both to forever.

At first, when they met, it felt like it was not the right time. Sefe was in her final semester of law school, and her only focus was on finishing strong. It was only a matter of perfect timing, so when they eventually reconnected, everything fell into place at once, literally! Austin was so sweet on their first date, from opening the car door for her to listening to her attentively and keeping her safe. These gentlemanly actions stirred something deep within Sefe. And for Austin, he was just as smitten by her.

Safe to say they were on the same page, because now the lovebirds have tied the knot! Their Edo traditional wedding was such a beautiful celebration of love and rich culture. Through their stunning wedding photos, we get a glimpse into the lovely day they had. Sefe looked resplendent in her gorgeous attire, and Austin made a dapper groom.  When we first met, the timing wasn’t quite right. I was in my last semester of law school and focused on finishing strong and figuring out my next step. A few months later, we reconnected, and somehow it felt like we had never lost touch. On our first date, he came to pick me up, got out of the car, and opened the door for me. Throughout the night, he was so attentive, and at the end of the date, he insisted on walking me all the way to my doorstep and waited until I was safely inside. That was the moment I realised he was a true gentleman, and he still is to this day. The proposal completely surprised me. He worked with his sister to plan what I thought was just my birthday photoshoot. Everything felt normal. We were taking pictures, laughing, posing, and then I turned around. And there he was on one knee. I was completely shocked in the best way possible. It was the most perfect moment.

Their love story, as shared by Austin:

The moment I saw her, I was stunned. She was beautiful, charming, and confident. By the end of the night, all I could think about was when I would see her again. Then a few days passed, and I didn’t hear from her. I thought I was about to get ghosted, but it turned out she had just started a new job and was getting busy. Between that and coming out of COVID restrictions, planning dates wasn’t easy… but I knew I wasn’t about to lose touch again.  I knew things were serious when I introduced her to my family on Thanksgiving, and three years later, on Thanksgiving again, I proposed. Life together just feels right. We work out together, meal prep together, spend time with our families, and genuinely enjoy being around each other. One of the most meaningful parts of our journey has been bringing our families and cultures together, including taking my family to Nigeria to celebrate with hers.
