It all began with the sweet sound of music — Shola had come to play the saxophone at Shola’s father’s church, and it was literally love at first sight. Nine years later, they’re still dancing to the rhythm of love, and we can’t get enough of their beautiful story! They say when love is meant to be, everything aligns—even the music. For us, it all started with a saxophone and a Sunday morning. In 2009, I met the man who would become my husband, although I didn’t know it then. He had come to play the saxophone at my father’s church. From the very moment he stepped in, something about him stood out. And when he began to play—gracefully, passionately, effortlessly—my heart couldn’t help but respond. There he was, completely lost in the music, dancing like no one was watching. Except I was watching. And in that moment, I knew. It was love at first sight.

We became friends almost instantly. And for five solid years, we built a beautiful friendship, one rooted in faith, music, laughter, and genuine care. He became my safe space, my prayer partner, and eventually—my person. In 2014, we finally admitted what our hearts had known all along: we were meant to be more than friends. The proposal was simple, heartfelt, and perfect. It reflected everything we stood for—God, love, and intention. And when we said our vows in 2016, surrounded by our loved ones, it felt like the final note in a divine composition that God Himself had written.

This year, we’re celebrating nine amazing years of marriage. It hasn’t always been perfect, but it’s always been filled with purpose. Through every high and low, it’s been God’s love that has carried us. Our story is a testimony—proof that friendship is a strong foundation, and that when God writes your love story, it will always be beautiful. From the first note he played to the rhythm of our life now, our love has been one continuous melody—sweet, strong, and Spirit-led. I’ll forever be thankful that I was in church that day in 2009. Because that day, I met the love of my life.
