#HisQueenHerKen: A Change in Summer Plans Brought Queen & Ken Together!

Isn’t it funny how sometimes the plans we almost didn’t make end up leading us exactly where we’re meant to be?  Queen and Ken had their own plans for the summer, but with a little twist of fate, their paths crossed in Lagos in the most unexpected way.

When a friend invited Queen to a beach gathering, she almost turned it down because she barely knew anyone who would be there. Thankfully, she decided to go anyway, and that simple “yes” would lead her straight to Ken. What started as a casual day out soon turned into easy conversations, plenty of laughter and a connection neither of them saw coming. Now, they’re set to spend the rest of their lives together and are giving us all the feels with their beautiful pre-wedding shoot. From their sweet chemistry to the love shining through every frame, these lovebirds are making our hearts smile! 😍

Enjoy their pre-wedding shoot and love story below:

Their love story as shared by Ken:

In the summer of 2024, our paths crossed in Lagos, Nigeria — a meeting that almost never happened. Queen had recently moved from Dublin to Dallas for graduate school and originally planned to spend the summer in the United States while figuring out her next steps. But an unexpected internship opportunity brought her back to Nigeria. At the same time, I was preparing for my own relocation after spending the previous five years in Nigeria. I believed this would be my final summer in Lagos. Looking back, it’s amazing to see how God orchestrated every detail. Had either of us followed our original plans, we may never have met.

Not long after returning home, Queen accepted an invitation from a friend to join a beach gathering. She almost didn’t go because she hardly knew anyone who would be there, but decided to say yes anyway, thinking it would simply be a casual day out. The beach became the setting for our first real conversation after I noticed Queen had bumped her head on the boat and I went over to make sure she was okay. It was a small moment, but it opened the door to getting to know each other. Later that day, everyone gathered to play a card game. One of the challenges asked me to choose someone who spoke my native language. A friend pointed to Queen and said, “She’s Igbo.”

Without missing a beat, I smiled and asked, “Ị nara Chukwu ikike tupu ịbịa ebe a?” (“Did you take permission from heaven before coming here?”) It caught everyone off guard and got plenty of laughs. It also became the beginning of many conversations that followed. As the day went on, we discovered just how much we had in common. What started as an ordinary afternoon turned into hours of easy conversation, shared values, and a connection that felt completely natural.

From the very beginning, there was a sense of peace between us. People often ask how you know you’ve found the one. For us, it wasn’t a grand moment or a dramatic realisation. It was the quiet confidence that we could be completely ourselves with each other. At the time, Queen was also in a season of growing deeper in her relationship with Christ. As we continued getting to know one another, our conversations naturally centred on faith, family, purpose, and the future. There was no pressure to impress or pretend. We simply enjoyed being ourselves, and as we grew closer to God, we found ourselves growing closer to each other.

Not long after, Queen returned to Dallas, and our relationship became long-distance. Although thousands of miles separated us, prayer, intentional conversations, and a shared commitment to keeping God at the centre of our relationship only brought us closer. In many ways, the distance became one of the things that strengthened our relationship. By September 2025, we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. I surprised Queen with a trip to the Seychelles, where I asked her to spend forever with me. She said yes.

Two months later, surrounded by our families, we celebrated our traditional wedding and began a beautiful new chapter together. When we look back now, we don’t simply see a beach day or a chance meeting. We see God’s faithfulness through unexpected detours, perfect timing, and countless answered prayers. What Queen thought was a trip home to figure out her next chapter became the journey that led her to her me.
