Debbie & Mo Met At a Church Career Conference, Now #APurposeBond is Here! 😍

When you attend a conference, it’s mostly for the knowledge you stand to gain. Also, beautiful connections and networks have been built from such events as these. But this network is definitely not exclusive of something more – like love!

On this fateful career conference at church, love came out to play and connected two beautiful hearts – Debbie and Mo! While Mo was a panellist at this event, Debbie was an eager attendee, looking to grow. She did grow and then got more than she expected. A beautiful love story emanated from this lovely day and they both share with us how it all went down. You can enjoy it all as you scroll. Their pre-wedding shoot has us super giddy and excited and their smiles are sure making us smile as well.

Check out all the beautiful photos from their pre-wedding shoot below.

Their love story as Mo tells it:

Thank God for church! I met the love of my life, at a church career conference. I was speaking on a panel. After my speech, she walked up and said to me – “I have heard from God. I will be your wife!” Lol. I’m kidding.

We had a professional conversation regarding her goals, and we built a friendship from there. I noticed her in church, looking beautiful all the time.

After a few weeks, I asked her out on a date. On our first date, I was impressed to hear about how she had led such a discipline and purpose-driven life. Initially, I was a bit nervous about the idea of dating her because of her no-nonsense attitude. As our friendship grew, I realized how much her qualities complemented mine, and I asked her to be my girlfriend.

We dated for a few months, and as soon as she met my parents I knew she was the one for me. My Dad even joked that I hit the jackpot. I truly did 😅

Their love story according to Debbie:

So there was this tall, dark, handsome, dapper-looking young man, in a blue suit, multicoloured socks, tan shoes and champagne framed glasses… Your girl was like Lord, are you about to do something really big because this girl just caught a vision and you have to make provision. Lol. Jokes.

On a serious note, Mo was dressed as described above, he was a panellist at the career conference I had attended in church (shout out to our Ignite family). My goal at the time was to pivot my career from core business, management consulting to business and technology. You already know who was spitting deep nuggets about business tech.

As a sharp girl, I approached him after the conference for strictly professional reasons. A mutual friend Kola (we didn’t realize until the conversation ensued) came around. Then I realized we all attended the same high school but Mo was our senior. This cordial relationship set the pathway for his mentorship as I pivoted my career successfully.

Mo is an incredibly passionate, pragmatic and result-oriented teacher! We spoke a few times but each time we did, it was about project management, business and technology until one day… On this day, a brother was like, “Hey Debbie, how about lunch and games after service?” Of course, lunch and games don’t hurt anybody.

So I agreed. It was on this day, I experienced a different side to Mo. He was not my teacher, he was an honest, witty, open, perfect gentleman. A few months later, he asked me to be his girlfriend and fiancé respectively and from the place of prayer and character conviction, I said yes to the man of my dreams!

I can say without a flinch of a doubt that God gave me a man after his own heart: a perfect fit for destiny assignment. Indeed, ours is #APurposeBond.

How the proposal went down as narrated by Mo:

It was a certainty, knowing I was going to marry her. I had planned with friends and family to surprise her and prior to the proposal, I told Deb we were going for a thanksgiving lunch at my family house. I had already asked her friends and family to come to the house for the proposal. The house was beautifully decorated. It was intimately beautiful and I couldn’t be happier doing this with anyone else.
