What comes to your mind when you hear of an electrical engineering class? Wires, circuits, and a whole lot of formulas, we presume. But beyond the volts and currents, some sparks don’t just power machines… they ignite a love so bright, nothing can dim it.

For Stephanie and Tobi, that spark, which would eventually glow into something beautiful, was lit 15 years ago in school. Back then, they were simply friends, and love wasn’t even on the agenda. But if there’s one thing we know about love, it’s that it has a way of showing up when you least expect it.  Years after graduation, life brought them back to the same city, and somewhere amidst catching up, that quiet spark began to glow again… this time, as something deeper, something undeniable. Now, it’s love in the air for the sweethearts, and we are super pumped. Their love story, as shared by The Couple:

Some love stories begin loudly, but ours began quietly in a classroom 15 years ago. We met as Electrical Engineering students, two young people trying to navigate life, lectures, and everything in between. If anyone had told us then that we would one day tie the knot, we would have probably laughed it off. At the time, there was nothing romantic between us, just a genuine friendship. But somewhere after our first year, we grew closer and even jokingly nicknamed ourselves “Electrified”, but I guess the universe took us seriously. There was no deep meaning behind it, just friends catching cruise. But looking back now, it feels almost prophetic. Something had already sparked, even before we fully understood it.

After graduation, we did our own thing for a while, though we kept in touch lightly, but you can’t run from what’s meant for you. Then in October 2018, everything changed. Life brought us back to the same city, and seeing each other again felt familiar, yet new at the same time. People would tease us about how good we looked together, but we always brushed it off. But with time, the friendship we once had began to grow into something more. We discovered new layers of each other: ambition, kindness, strength, vulnerability, faith, and depth. And somewhere in those moments, everything shifted.

We both felt it; this was no longer just friendship, it was intentional and orchestrated by God. What we had built over the years had grown into something steady, meaningful, and beautiful. And so, we chose to explore it. Five years later, through every challenge, we’re still choosing each other. Still growing. Still laughing at how it all started. From classmates to close friends. From friends to partners. From Electrified… to forever. Who would have thought that a classroom in electrical engineering would one day lead us to the next chapter of our lives?
