Ope & Brorhie’s Little Phone Greetings Turned Into Something Beautiful

Love has a way of showing up in the most beautiful and unexpected ways. Ope and Brorhie were introduced by a mutual friend and would always casually exchange little “his” and “hellos” through this friend’s phone.

They soon got a chance to meet in person, and it was as though those seemingly little greetings through the phone had created a bigger connection. They became more fond of each other and couldn’t deny that feeling of love that was now very real. They navigated the journey of long-distance, and with every call, conversation and moment together, their bond only grew stronger. Now, they are choosing to spend the rest of their lives together, and we can’t help but swoon over their beautiful pre-wedding shoot. They brought all the style, chemistry and love, and we can’t help but gush over them!

Our story began through a mutual friend in the most unexpected way. Ope happened to be roommates with my best friend from secondary school. Whenever I called my best friend, we would occasionally say hello in passing, and over time, we became familiar faces and eventually acquaintances, without knowing where those little interactions would lead. In December 2019, I came to celebrate my friend’s graduation, and this time, we had the chance to spend more time around each other in person. Something shifted, and what had once been a casual acquaintance slowly became something more. Three months later, we officially started dating.

Our relationship began just as the world was changing with the onset of COVID, and for the next three years, we navigated a long-distance relationship. Despite the distance and all the challenges that came with that season, we remained intentional about choosing each other. I visited whenever I could, and every trip, phone call and moment together became another piece of the life we were building.

After Ope completed university, she moved to Canada, where I live, finally bringing an end to years of long-distance. For the first time, we were able to experience everyday life together and continue building the relationship that had already carried us across countries, time zones and countless emotional goodbyes at the airport. What started with a few casual hellos grew into a friendship, then a relationship, and ultimately a life together. Six and a half years after our story began, surrounded by the people we love most, we finally got to say “I do.”
And somehow, looking back, those little hellos don’t seem so little anymore. ❤️
