There is a popular saying that goes, “Sometimes, what you are looking for in Sokoto is right inside your ṣòkòtò.” Well, this couldn’t be truer for Esther and Ebuka. 😍
Theirs is a love story that always seemed destined to happen. Even though it took 20 years, different time zones, and a long season of friend-zoning, they eventually realised that the love they had been searching for had been right in front of them all along.
What started as a friendship in secondary school gradually grew into a solid foundation for the beautiful love they now share. For their pre-wedding shoot, they rocked stunning isiagu and aso-oke outfits, serving the perfect blend of culture, style, and romance. From their undeniable chemistry to the rich traditional elements beautifully woven into each look, Esther and Ebuka looked absolutely regal together, and we are totally gushing over their sweet love.

Their love story, as shared by Esther:
Our love story is best described as an orchestrated destiny, one carefully written long before we even understood what it meant. It all began at Nigerian Navy Secondary School, Borikiri, Port Harcourt, where we first met as classmates and served together as set prefects. Back then, we were simply friends, nothing more, nothing less. We shared laughter, responsibilities, and moments of growing up, completely unaware that life was quietly preparing us for something far greater. No one could have guessed that our story would unfold the way it has. In 2012, after our passing out parade, life took us in different directions. I moved to the United States, while Ebuka travelled to Russia to further his education.

Though separated by distance and continents, something unexpected happened: the distance didn’t weaken our bond; instead, it strengthened it. Our friendship deepened, evolving naturally into a connection that became impossible to ignore. We grew from friends into best friends, sharing life, dreams, and experiences across time zones. By 2020, destiny took another intentional step. I was stationed in Germany as a NATO soldier, and for the first time in years, we found ourselves in the same time zone. Communication became easier, more frequent, and more meaningful. With every conversation, clarity grew, and we began to realise that what we had been searching for all along had always been right in front of us. As the saying goes, what we were looking for in Sokoto was truly in our Shokoto.

In 2021, Ebuka made a life-changing decision to relocate to Germany, not only to pursue an MBA but to close the distance between us finally. And in that moment, everything aligned. What had been building over the years finally came into full bloom. We became inseparable, growing, supporting, and building a life together against all odds. Today, we stand with 20 years of familiarity, 14 years of friendship, and 6 years of loving each other deeply and intentionally. Every step of our journey has led us here, and
everything feels exactly as it should. We know we have already won in life, and yet, it feels like we are only just beginning the most beautiful chapter of all.
