Their love story, as shared by Oluchi:
On June 30th, 2023, a mutual friend of ours posted a birthday shout-out to him on her Instagram story. I’ll admit… I was intrigued. I clicked on the picture, took a tasteful little stroll through his page, watched a few of his stories, and thought to myself, “Okay, he’s cute.” Then I closed the app and carried on with my life. The very next day, July 1st, that same friend texted me asking if I was single. When I said yes, she told me one of her friends was interested. She sent his Instagram and his name, and I immediately realized it was the same guy whose page I had just visited the day before. She asked if she could give him my number, and since I respected her so much — and already thought he was handsome — I said yes.

And then… silence.
July passed, August came, nothing. I finally messaged her on August 1st, saying he never reached out, and she explained that he was traveling and would probably text me when he got back. Well, the end of 2023 came, and still no text from this man. Fast-forward to 2024. I met a new friend at church, and we made plans for dinner. Before we met, I posted her on my story. She reposted it, and apparently he saw it and reached out to her asking about me. They were college friends who had just reconnected. She told him she was meeting me soon and would let him know how it went. He said he was interested and had actually heard about me before.

At dinner, we talked about relationships, and I told her I was looking for my husband. She said she had one friend in mind — gave me his name — and showed me his Instagram. I nearly choked. Him? Absolutely not. In my mind, he had already gotten his chance and fumbled, so I politely declined. She went on and on about how amazing he was: God-fearing, kind, raised by a wonderful mother, came from a great family. I was impressed… but still unmoved.
About a month later, Easter came. I had gone to Houston to visit family and decided to drive back to Dallas early. My friend called later that evening — the time I was supposed to be driving — to check in. She happened to be out for drinks with him and asked me to come join them. At first I hesitated, but I didn’t want her to think I wasn’t serious about meeting someone, so I went. When I got there, he was nice and a little shy. I barely spoke to him at first because I was still stuck on the fact that he never reached out. Eventually, I asked him directly why. His honesty surprised me: he said he had been trying to resolve something from a past relationship and didn’t want to start something new with loose ends. I respected that.

From that moment, my guard came down. The rest of the night was full of laughter and easy conversation. We even discovered that his mom and I are from the same village — which he swears was the moment he knew. Our friend took pictures of us that night (which we now adore), and she convinced me to give him my number instead of making him DM me again out of petty principle. That was April 1st, 2024. We’ve spoken every single day since. He has been intentional, loving, steady, and truly everything I prayed for. I’m so grateful to God — and to our community — for bringing us together.

Their love story, as shared by Paul:
It all began with a birthday post. My friend shared a photo of Oluchi, and I casually commented, “She’s so pretty.” My friend laughed and told me not to even think about it because, at the time, I “wasn’t serious.” Months later, Oluchi appeared on my timeline again, and something made me stop. I asked my friend if she was single. She checked and confirmed that she was, then shared her number with one warning: “Don’t play with her feelings.”
Life got busy, so I didn’t reach out immediately, but she stayed on my mind. Almost a year later, fate intervened. Through my sister, I connected with a friend after over 15 years. She had just met Oluchi in church and said she thinks she is someone I would like. On a work trip to Dallas our mutual friend insisted we meet for dinner and invited Oluchi. In that moment, I knew she was the one.
