Leke Refused to Be Brother Zoned by Tolu – Now It’s #LoveNeverFades2022!

Another day, another love story to gush over and this time, it is all about Tolu and Leke! How these lovebirds met is one sweet story that will keep you smiling all through.

Even though Tolu and Leke had mutual friends and had heard a lot about each other, they never got a chance to be introduced. Then one fateful day on the lovely street of Instagram, Leke slid into Tolu’s DM after he saw one of her posts about their mutual friend. This led to a conversation that lasted for hours. These two got close and Leke decided to leave the popular brother zone.

Now, these lovebirds are on the path to forever and their pre-wedding photos are the perfect love dose our day needs. We can’t get enough of Tolu and Leke and you will love every bit of their photos just like us!

Their love story as shared by Tolu:

I’ll say God prepared my heart to love Adeleke long before we started talking. I had heard his name in the mouths of our mutual friends (Tosin and Tobi), and they said the most marvellous things about this young man. I almost felt they were exaggerating before I met him, but when I did, it made total sense. I even felt they didn’t do justice in describing this amazing man of mine.

I noticed he would randomly view my stories on Instagram, and I decided to ‘help’ him by following him. Almost immediately, the man of God followed back. A few weeks after, October 4th to be precise, he slid into my DMs to chide me very gently for teasing one of the mutual friends I mentioned earlier on my Instagram Story. After chatting for about 4 hours, I thought to myself, ‘Why are we flowing so well like we have known each other for years?’ This man of God proceeded to give me his number claiming, in his words, ‘I don’t come on Instagram often.’ In my heart, I said, ‘Sir, who told you I wanted to chat with you after this?’ *lol* But I sent him a message very early the next morning. Now he claims I couldn’t stop thinking about him. That was not true!

Our conversations were great, and I was happy to have a new brother who loved the Lord and could be my mentor or bible teacher. This was until I dreamt about him! Let’s just say I dreamt about him at least four times. This was very unusual because I don’t dream about men. Even though this is one of the ways God speaks to me, I was in denial. I took a step back and almost cut communication because I thought that was why I was dreaming about him. I even tried to put him in a box by defining him as my brother. But this sharp guy would always say, ‘I’m not your brother Tolu. I have enough sisters.’ I should have figured out that he liked me because he was quite invested in my well-being, and we spoke every single day. But I didn’t want to assume.

Our friendship grew stronger as the days went by and on a fateful day, he decided to ask me out. I initially declined because I couldn’t see him as anything more than a brother. I thought he would agree with my decision and move on, rather he asked me to pray about it and take some time to think a bit more. I paid close attention to his person, prayed, and remembered the dreams I had. I came back to him and said, ‘Let’s give it a try.’ His reaction was priceless. One would have thought he had just hit a jackpot.

Their love story as shared by Leke:

This is the story of how I went from “Bro Lékè” to “Babe”… lol. It all started in October 2020. A pretty damsel had followed me on my Instagram. I checked her profile, and I noticed that we had a few mutual friends, so I followed back.

She later posted something on her Instagram story that caught my attention and I slid into her DMs. Nah, not what you are thinking. I didn’t ‘shoot my shot’ then lol. We had quite an amazing time chatting and I literally forgot it was the first time we were having a conversation. We didn’t have to do a lot of introductions as she already knew about “Bro Lékè” from our mutual friends, and I also knew about “Tolu” from them as well.

Looking back now, I can’t even remember what the conversation was all about, but I knew that it should not stop on Instagram. So as a smart guy who did not want to ask her directly for her phone number, I told her that I don’t chat a lot on Instagram (which is also true lol), but that if she was active on WhatsApp, I wouldn’t mind connecting with her there. That’s how I gave her my phone number.

Lo and behold, the following day, I got a message from her on WhatsApp! Oh, the joy in my heart and the smile on my face as I read from her. Again, there was nothing ‘deep’ then lol. Just the excitement of making a new friend, a very brilliant one at that. Well, weeks turned into months, and we kept on chatting, exchanging voice notes, and making voice and video calls. Our friendship got better and sweeter!

Sometime in May 2021, she came to Lagos for her mum’s funeral, I was based in Abuja at that time. During this period, I was already considering dating her. So, if I may ask, who should ensure to be in Lagos, by all means, to see his potential babe for the first time? Me! But I couldn’t make it to Lagos because of work, and I was also going to be in Lagos a few weeks later on a business trip. I missed a golden opportunity .

But you know, strong men don’t give up easily. When you know what you like and what you want, you make sure you go for it. By June 8th, 2021, she was already back at her base, and I had returned to Abuja from my business trip to Lagos as well. While we were having chat, I decided that I wasn’t going to delay any further, so I told her I would give her a call when I returned from work that day. I didn’t give her any hint about what I was going to say. I put a video call through to her, but my ‘village people’ swung into action lol. The connection was terrible on my end. She had to be the one to call back and I finally ‘shoot my shot’… Ghen ghen! I asked her out and gave her reasons why I would like to be with her. The beautiful lady was kind to me, and she said she would give it a thought and get back to me. The following day, she called me to give me a ‘no’ for a few reasons. I, however, felt that was too sudden and told her to at least pray about it and that whatever her answer was afterwards wouldn’t be a problem.

We maintained communication but our conversations became a bit awkward for a few days and later returned to normal. That was when I began to sense that it was not looking like the son of man was going to be served, and I was convinced that my mother’s prayers were working. On the evening of June 25th, 2021, we had finished our regular phone call for the day and she had asked specific questions about our being together. Well, it was already the following morning at my end, June 26th, 2021, about 2:00 am (yes, I was still awake, and we were still talking – things we do for love! lol). She texted, ‘Ok, Lékè. Let’s give it a try…’ I was shocked! I asked, ‘Is that a “yes”?’ Then the three-letter word was her answer – YES!

And boom! We are here NOW.
